The Elm Ridge
The Elm is the largest deciduous-forest ridge in northern Germany and lies in scenic surroundings west of Helmstedt. Extensive beech forests, marked hiking trails, rugged quarries and quiet valleys make it a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. In spring, flowering wild garlic enchants the forest floor; in autumn, the foliage glows in warm colours. Numerous viewpoints and places to stop for refreshment invite you to spend a whole day in nature.
