Schöningen Spears & Research Museum
The Schöningen Spears are the oldest fully preserved hunting weapons of humankind, around 300,000 years old. Discovered in nearby Schöningen, they are regarded as an archaeological world sensation and change our picture of early humans. The modern research and adventure museum (paläon) presents the original spears in an impressive exhibition and brings the Ice Age landscape to life with life-sized animal models. A fascinating excursion destination near Helmstedt for young and old alike.
