Watchman's Tower
The Watchman's Tower crowns the assembly-hall building of the Juleum and is a widely visible emblem of Helmstedt. The slender Renaissance tower once served the watchman as a lookout and guard post above the town. From up here the view reaches across the red roofs of the old town, the church spires and out to the wooded ridge of the Lappwald. Together with the Juleum hall, the tower forms an unmistakable architectural ensemble from the golden age of the university.
