Marienborn Memorial to German Division

The Marienborn Memorial to German Division stands at what was once the largest and most important border crossing of the GDR, known to the Allies as Checkpoint Alpha. On the extensive original site, control barracks, barriers, watchtowers and the striking processing hall have been preserved. They make the mechanisms of the inner-German border and the fate of travelers vividly tangible. As a central place of remembrance of division and reunification, Marienborn is one of the most significant memorials of its kind in Germany.
